Ephedra viridis (Mormon Tea)This shrub grows naturally in many parts of the U.S. Ephedra viridis gets its common name, Mormon Tea, due to its popularity with Mormons who use it as an energy drink in place of caffeine, which they can't drink according to their religion. It is said that Brigham Young encouraged the early Mormom settlers to use Mormon Tea (also called Brigham tea) for energy and lung ailments. Brigham Tea was also used anciently to promote circulation. We also offer Sida cordifolia which is another plant containing ephedra alkaloids.
