Meadowsweet (Filipendula ulmaria)
Meadowsweet has been used for colds, respiratory problems, acid indigestion, peptic ulcers, joint problems, skin diseases, and diarrhea. *
Aromatic, astringent, diuretic, and sub-tonic. It is also considered of some service as a corrector of the stomach, and not without some power as an alterative, and is frequently used in affections of the blood. It is almost a specific in children's diarrhea.
The name Ulmaria is given in allusion to the resemblance of its leaves to those of the Elm (Ulmus), being much wrinkled on the upper side.
Synonyms-- Meadsweet. Dolloff. Queen of the Meadow. Bridewort. Lady of the Meadow.
